Marrickville and Petersham
The program provides 24 hour support and care to former boarding house residents with complex needs through individualised rehabilitation programs. Family contact is a vital part of this service and residents are encouragedf to visit as often as they wish. Each person has access to a day activity of their choice within their chosen community. Each person is given the opportunity to participate in the AIMHi Research Project.
The program was recently assessed by the NSW Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care. As a result of the assessment Tirrikee is working towards meeting the requirements of the Disability Services Act.
The NSW Ombudsman has reported in a letter dated 15 December 2004 that “Overall, the reviews have found that the Tirrikee program is providing good quality care and support to people placed with the program.“
Recommendations for continuing improvement will be taken up by the Tirrikee program.
